## Article #1
> "From the nation’s capital to Fort Worth, Texas, from Florin, California, in the west to the Bronx, New York, in the east, the Fourth of July long weekend in the US was overshadowed by 16 mass shootings in which 15 people were killed and 94 injured.
>
> The [Gun Violence Archive](https://archive.ph/JXGXH), an authoritative database on gun violence in America, calculated the grim tally using its definition of a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people excluding the shooter are ==killed or injured== by firearms.
>
> ==The tragic bloodletting was recorded from 5pm on Friday until 5am on Wednesday across 13 states as well as Washington DC.== Texas and Maryland both entered the register twice."
Because this one really got me. Just wait until you see what the media is up to following 4th of July weekend. So I wake up this morning and I see this headline in the news section on my phone. It says, 4th of July, overshadowed by 16 mass shootings across the United States. And I thought to myself, that's weird.
I don't remember hearing about anything catastrophic. Like last year we had the Highland Park Parade shooting, but I don't remember hearing about anything like that. Let me see if I missed something. So I opened up the actual article and it says 15 people were killed and 94 injured across the. 13 states as well as Washington DC and it goes on to say the tragic bloodletting was recorded from 5:00 PM on Friday until 5:00 AM on Wednesday.
So that's six days, that's almost a week. And I thought to myself, obviously this is tragic. Like anytime anyone dies this, it's terrible, but these numbers don't actually sound all that bad compared to yours. Passed, so I decided to look into it. This is an article from 2015 and it says The 4th of July holiday weekend saw hundreds of shootings across the country despite a small year over year decline.
These numbers are actually lower than they were in years prior. At least 107 people were killed, and another 283 injured, from Friday to Sunday. So this was recorded over three days, whereas this year, the numbers were recorded over six days, and yet the numbers this year were. Significantly lower than the 2015 numbers.
A bit more recently. In 2020, the numbers in Chicago alone over 4th of July weekend, 87 were shot and 17 were killed. Those numbers basically matched the numbers of this year in the entire country. This article from 2021 says over 4th of July weekend, 233 people were killed and 618 were injured. And that's a 26% drop from 2020.
And when you look into when those numbers were recorded in 2020 and 2021, It says from 5:00 PM Friday through Monday. So again, this was a four day period compared to the six day period. That numbers were recorded this year. Finally, last year, 2022. 220 people shot and killed over the 4th of July weekend.
Let me remind you, this year, 15 people were killed. 94 injured. Not even a hundred people injured yet. This is the headline. And this is PBS News Hour's headline 4th of July, celebrations marred by Mass Shootings in several US cities. Tell me why. Despite a drastic proven improvement in gun violence numbers, you will not see a headline that says exactly that.
I will let you answer that question for yourself, but all that I ask is that you don't fall into the media's trap of deception. I'm not saying that these headlines are necessarily lies, but they certainly are deceiving. And it's funny because when you're in a position like B N U. Speak out against the media's deception.
It's almost like people assume your political affiliation. This isn't about my politics, this is about the media's politics. I am looking out for you. Read me on the headline, do your own research.
