So what has happened since June 8th that we should talk about? Let's see... #### I Watched A Movie! I went over to spend the night with Papa L, and we watched Full Metal Jacket, which was recommended by GIJeep. And despite myself, I did enjoy watching it for the most part.  There was a particular scene that stood out to me, which I'm going to make you watch because I'm a movie buff now. In it, the protagonist Joker is asked about why he wears a peace button, while he also wears a helmet with "Born to Kill" written on it, since the two are contradictory. <iframe title="Full Metal Jacket Born to Kill/Peace Button Duality of Man" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KMEViYvojtY?feature=oembed" height="150" width="200" style="aspect-ratio: 1.33333 / 1; width: 100%; height: 100%;" allowfullscreen="" allow="fullscreen"></iframe> The "Jungian Thing" he referred to is Carl Jung's "duality of man" refers to the idea that people have two contrasting sides or aspects to their nature. It suggests that individuals can possess both positive and negative qualities, conflicting desires or beliefs, or experience different emotions. It recognizes the coexistence of opposing traits within a person, such as good and evil, light and dark, or kindness and cruelty. Essentially, it highlights the notion that humans can exhibit contrasting characteristics or tendencies. According to Jung, the goal of personal growth, called individuation, is to integrate these opposite aspects into a balanced whole. The person you mentioned seems to be acknowledging and accepting both sides of their nature without feeling conflicted.  The collective unconscious refers to the attitudes and behaviors of a culture that are hidden or unknown to its members. As cultures evolve, what they are unaware of also changes. For example, before the Vietnam War, Americans generally accepted warfare as a positive thing without questioning it. However, the Vietnam War brought attention to the problematic aspects of American Imperialism, making it a conscious issue. At least that's a general summary of an analysis of this scene I read suggested, and a few looks into the general readings on the concept of the duality of man. Of all parts of the movie, this was the one that stood out to me the most. I don't have some big revelation to give you from that, but I wanted to share because y'all keep saying I need to watch movies, and I did so there. The title of the stream tonight was sort of inspired by that- Tragicomedy 101. It's like seeing Angry Birds post "Trans rights are human rights!" Which they did... on June 17th.  It's seeing Jill Biden tell Joe Biden "Happy Father's Day" and thanks him for being the best dad on Twitter while his son takes a sweetheart plea deal for his crackhead adventures.  It's seeing Gilead and Janssen sponsor an HIV summit where they say that it's kink shaming to suggest intentionally trying to get HIV is a bad thing to do. "Don't yuck someone's yum!"  Everything is hilarious. Nothing's funny at all.
