This is an archived recreation of a Substack article on the Pelosi and Newsom families. --- MAR 14, 2024 — [FVCK THE GOV: The Pelosi Family - FVCK THE FED](https://fckthefed.substack.com/p/fvck-the-gov-the-pelosi-family?r=4noiy&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true&sort=new) ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/Nf0XCt0j/BDE-Capture-24.png) > Many know [[Nancy Pelosi]] the Politician, but few know Nancy D'Alessandro the daughter of a congressman with suspected mob ties. In this article, we investigate her & her husband's family & history. When it comes to wealth & influence in the age of the modern politician, few are as successful as Nancy Pelosi. Sure, politicians regularly use their names to cash in when they leave their public position (for example, the Bushes, the Clintons, Trumps, and Bidens), but Pelosi has been engaged in this for years and while she was still in public office; in fact, you could say it runs in the family. Well, Nancy is at it again. Just last month the Pelosis added a new position, Palo Alto Networks. But before we discuss and cover the Pelosis' investments, we wanted to provide a history of her & her husband Paul, as well as their families. While much has been said about her trading acumen, which is often conveniently coincidental in timing (to say the least), far less has been written about how the Pelosi family built their wealth over the years. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/4xgYkTfc/BDE-Capture-24.png) **
Nancy D'Alessandro Pelosi's Biographical Timeline
** Many have seen the image below. It illustrates how California is run by an elite which holds the reins of government power by the throat. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/zBxnCyXw/BDE-Capture-24.png) But it's incomplete. We're missing the D'Alessandro family; that is, the Nancy D'Alessandro's family. You see, the D'Alessandro family had been a political family for decades before Nancy came onto the scene. In fact, her father, who was a US congressman, helped fund & platform Jerry Brown for President in 1976; this was over 10 years before Nancy would win her seat in the House of Representatives. Most people know that the Pelosi-D'Alessandro couple married in the early 1963 after meeting in college, but few understand how Paul and Nancy actually amassed their ~$180 million fortune[^1], complete with vineyards (yes, multiple), mansions, millions reportedly in a car collection, and a charity. In fact, over the past 20 years, the Pelosis’ wealth increased from an estimated ~$20M (debatable, likely higher) to its value today of $180M, all while Nancy was speaker of the house and in congress. But other than Nancy's history in congress, little is known about the couple's private life. Even less is known about Paul Pelosi, who is supposedly the business genius behind their wealth. But who is he really? How did the Pelosis find their wealth? ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/SxBDpRXr/BDE-Capture-24.png) **
Paul Pelosi's estimated net worth by year.
** ## The D'Alessandro & Pelosi Family History Nancy Pelosi is daughter of Thomas D'Alessandro, former US Congressman (1939-1947) & Baltimore Mayor (1947-1959), and brother to former Baltimore Mayor Thomas D'Alessandro III. In no uncertain terms, she is daughter of a major Democratic politician who drove the [[Democratic Party]] into the modern age. "Tommy" D'Alessandro worked with Roosevelt & Hoover before being investigated by Kennedy in 1961. It is also suspected (known) that Nancy's father had mob ties in Baltimore, where he worked in real estate and insurance before getting into politics. It is partially ironic that JFK investigated her father in 1961 and those records were released due to a FOIA request[^2] considering that JFK's father was a bootlegger with mob ties himself. Nonetheless, the records suggest he had close ties to Benny Trota Magliano, Baltimore crime boss. Here's a local newspaper detailing this. **FBI Vault Documents** — [Link](https://vault.fbi.gov/thomas-dalesandro-jr/Thomas%20D%20Alesandro%20Jr.%20Part%2001%20%28Final%29)

--- - ![](https://i.postimg.cc/sxnqszSJ/BDE-Capture-24.png) - ![](https://i.postimg.cc/W38fwV9P/BDE-Capture-24.png)
- ![](https://i.postimg.cc/vmzvpz5r/BDE-Capture-24.png) - ![](https://i.postimg.cc/7LmgBLyX/BDE-Capture-24.png) --- ***The Evening Sun* — [04-25-1955](https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-evening-sun-thomas-dalessandro/151170048/)** ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/mbx7y077/BDE-Capture-24.png) Obviously, Nancy had some wealth from her Father's business & government dealings but more important was the network of Democratic donors to gain her positions as a political activist in the 1970s. If not for her political connections, she certainly would not have been such an important member in the DNC in the late-70s and early-80s before she was in congress. Although her political connections certainly made it easier to fundraise on behalf of the Democrat party, it's difficult to argue she financially benefitted from this more than pleasantries. Over time, however, political power becomes more easily monetized. One gains access to important players in important places, especially as someone known for highly successful fundraising efforts. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/G3y118SB/BDE-Capture-24.png) **
From [Politico](https://archive.ph/TEEE0)…
** But the D'Alessandro political connections are only part of the story. Paul Pelosi's family had some convenient connections as well via his father & brother. ## The Squaw Valley Contract Like the D'Alessandro family, the Pelosi family were Italian immigrants who had political ties to say the least. Although there are few records of Nancy's husband Paul Pelosi's father's life, John Pelosi, newspaper records show he was a hardware and pharmacist wholesaler. While this may be true, John Pelosi received a lucrative contract in 1960, three years before Paul Pelosi married Nancy. In 1960, John Pelosi secured a California State contract along with [[Newsom, Gavin]]'s father, [[William Newsom]], from Governor Pat Brown for a concession to operate Squaw Valley for the 1960 Olympics and the next 28 years. Clearly John was no simple wholesaler. Some numbers show the contract at $7 million per year, although this does seem high & it's difficult to find record of the contract. At the time the contract was controversial due to Pelosi's partner, William Newsom Jr, who was Gavin Newsom's grandfather. William A Newsom Jr was a close friend of then California DA Pat Brown and helped get Pat Brown elected as California DA. However, after William Newsom Jr got this contract he wanted to do renovations in Squaw Valley, renovations which would obviously benefit his business venture. These renovations were ultimately denied by the state and sources suggest that Newsom pulled back support on Pat Brown, who ultimately lost his next election as DA. The Squaw Valley contract was ultimately bought out by California under when Ronald Reagan won as California Governor. ## All in the Family The 1960 Olympic contract provides a clear history to when the Pelosi family, pre-Nancy, might have run into some wealth. Although this is where John Pelosi's history for our purposes ends, his sons keep the family going. They also confirm the connection that John Pelosi had to the Newsoms. It also presents a clear connection to the Getty family, which William Newsom III (Jr's son) was close to as Gordon Getty's childhood friend. While it's speculation if the Newsoms or Pelosis were close to the Gettys at this time, it's clear that over time the connection would be made. After all, the Gettys are prominent DNC donors (and, of course, activists via Aileen's, Gordon's sister's, funding of Just Stop Oil)[^3]. This is exemplified by Ron Pelosi's marriage to Belinda Barbara Newsom, William Newsom Jr's daughter, in 1956. Clearly the Pelosis and Newsoms were close-knit. And clearly over time the Newsoms and the Gettys became close-knit. After all, the Getty children & trust would consistently donate to Gavin Newsom's election. Ron Pelosi would work on the San Francisco board of supervisors until the late-1970s when he followed his younger brother's footsteps and went into finance. Ron would form what was clearly a long-term relationship with one of the most important Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists at the time, a man who would later would manage Paul Pelosi's brokerage accounts. More on that later, in part two. ## The Pelosi Couple Paul Pelosi, on the other hand, worked as a banker and financial advisor for most of the 1960s after his marriage to Nancy Pelosi in 1963. There is very little known about the couple during this time other than the fact that Paul was a banker in New York City and Nancy was a housewife. The couple would move from New York City to San Francisco in 1969. Although Nancy was yet to enter politics, she already had ample political experience under her belt, from meeting John F. Kennedy when she was younger to working for her father as a child to interning at a Maryland Senator's office shortly after college. It wasn't until the mid-1970s where we can really begin to piece more together about the couple's relationship. It was in 1976, that Nancy & Paul really started making waves. After working as a volunteer or activist (or whatever) in the early-1970s, Nancy would work with her father once again, this time on Jerry Brown's campaign for President (at the time, he was challenging Jimmy Carter for the Democratic Nomination). Records show that Nancy Pelosi's father Thomas D'Alessandro used his Democratic Party machine to run California Governor Jerry Brown for President in 1976, a campaign that was driven by Nancy Pelosi, who was seen as essential for fundraising considering her history in the Democratic Party & in San Francisco. This wasn't a grassroots effort, it was funded by the Democratic Machine[^4] ran by Tom D'Alessandro. At this time, Nancy was still 11 years away from her congressional victory in San Francisco. In 1977, she became chair for the northern section of the California Democratic Party, and four years later became the chair for the entire state. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/8CkSQT7j/BDE-Capture-24.png) **
Nancy Pelosi & Jerry Brown
** What's funny about Nancy's role in Jerry Brown's short-lived campaign is that Jerry Brown was a childhood friend of Paul Pelosi. Coincidence? (No.) They went to the same school. This is no surprise considering the ties between John Pelosi, Paul's father, and Pat Brown, Jerry's father. It doesn't take a magical thinker to suspect that Paul's and Jerry's fathers knew each other closer than one Squaw Valley contract. ## Financial Leasing Services In 1974, Paul Pelosi would start Financial Leasing Services, a company which is still active to this day despite virtually [no public information](https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ca/0695698) about the company. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/76M0CMxB/BDE-Capture-24.png) This is what the media attributes the couple's success to[^5]. The media portrays Paul as a successful real estate & stock investor; however, as I mentioned above, the Pelosi couple had a low-eight-figure net worth when she became speaker of the house. That's not particularly impressive considering the couple's history and the San Francisco real estate boom & the dot-com boom in the 1990s. Paul is a particularly private man and for obvious reasons. It's very difficult to understand their investment history before she joined congress. That said, it's clear the Pelosis made most of their current wealth after she became speaker of the house. Most of their wealth, over $100 million of it, can be attributed to public company investments after she became speaker of the house. So was it really Paul Pelosi & Financial Leasing Services which made them their wealth? If Paul Pelosi was some business genius and Financial Leasing Services is such an important part of his success, then why did it take over 30 years after FLS formation to strike gold? It's unclear if Paul Pelosi even invested meaningfully in technology stocks such as Microsoft in the 1990s, when the stock went up by multiple orders of magnitude (2,000% from 1994 to 1999, for example). The key to their wealth is technology stock investments after 2008, such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Amazon. We get into how they invest & more importantly, how they learned to invest in part two. %%Footer Starts Here%% --- ![[Brain Icon 1.png|center]]
You might not have noticed it… but your brain did.
--- ### Tags ### Linked Pages & Footnotes [^1]: Paul Pelosi Net Worth 2023 (FORBES) - [Archive](https://web.archive.org/web/20231114035809/https://www.caclubindia.com/wealth/paul-pelosi-net-worth/) [^2]: Thomas D' Alesandro Jr.; FBI Records Vault; https://vault.fbi.gov/thomas-dalesandro-jr/thomas-d-alesandro-jr.-part-01-of-01/view — [Archive](https://web.archive.org/web/20231108104920/https://vault.fbi.gov/thomas-dalesandro-jr/thomas-d-alesandro-jr.-part-01-of-01/) [^3]: [Getty oil fortune heiress helped fund climate activists who have targeted artworks and museums](https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2022/10/21/getty-oil-heiress-funds-climate-crisis-activism-just-stop-oil) [^4]: Brown Backed by Machine in Maryland; 05-14-1976; [Archive](https://archive.ph/NTtcP) [^5]: How Nancy Pelosi's Net Worth Vastly Increased While House Speaker; 11-25-2022; [Archive](https://archive.ph/nzBs3)
