Walz over the years had said publicly he had been in Hong Kong during the crackdown in Beijing, including 10 years ago in Congress. > > But on Tuesday during the debate, he awkwardly responded that “all I said on this was, is, I got there that summer,” and “I’m a knucklehead at times” before conceding he “misspoke.” > > “Yeah, look, I have my dates wrong,” Walz told reporters in Harrisburg. “I was in Hong Kong in China in 1989. … I speak like everybody else speaks. I need to be clearer.” ### Jimmy Carter & the Jonestown Massacre #### How It Started. Donald Trump Mocks Jimmy Carter on His Milestone 100th Birthday — [Archive](https://archive.ph/JhNfs) ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/7YhnpCCz/BDE-Capture-32.png) > Donald Trump mocked fellow former President Jimmy Carter during a campaign speech on his predecessor's historic 100th birthday. > > Trump, 78, brought up the 39th president of the U.S. while speaking at a manufacturing facility in Waunakee, Wis., on Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to PBS. > > After calling President Joe Biden the worst president in U.S. history, Trump told the crowd, "Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison," according to The Daily Beast and USA Today. > > Carter, a Democrat, was a one-term president from 1977 to 1981. He was defeated by Republican Ronald Reagan in his 1980 reelection bid. > > Trump's comment about the Carter legacy was made as other Republican leaders put aside partisanship to honor the longest-living president's centennial birthday, which came more than 19 months after he entered hospice care in February 2023. > > Carter has been critical of Trump in the past. During a 2018 interview with CBS News, he claimed that Trump was "very careless with the truth," a notion also raised in an interview with The Washington Post that same year. > > "I think he's a disaster … In human rights and in treating people equal," Carter said at the time, before former first lady Rosalynn Carter — who died in November 2023 — chimed in. > > "The worst is that he is not telling the truth, and that just hurts everything," she added. > > Jason Carter, the former president's grandson, recently told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his grandfather hopes to live long enough to cast his vote in this year's presidential election. > > "I'm only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris," President Carter reportedly told loved ones. --- #### Welcome to Jonestown While people were throwing a fit over a mild joke, Razorfist dropped a picture of Jonestown, which he then elaborated on: ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/nVvyCPT2/BDE-Capture-32.png) Razorfist [Response](https://x.com/RAZ0RFIST/status/1841956478598406411): ![](https://x.com/RAZ0RFIST/status/1841956478598406411) --- Full Text: -Jim Jones was Rosalynn Carter's "spiritual advisor". This gave Jones connections in CA (and national) Dem politics. -Mayor Moscone—a Carter ally—then illegally appointed Jones the Housing Commissioner of San Francisco. -When Jones' rape victims spoke out, he abused his office to intimidate them into silence. -This led to an investigation. -The investigation led to Jones fleeing with his followers to Guyana. -Which led to Jonestown. ![](https://x.com/RAZ0RFIST/status/1841959437206265946) --- Harvey Milk Connection: ![](https://x.com/RAZ0RFIST/status/1841975719645135018) #### Jim Jones Overview > Jim Jones, the cult leader behind the Jonestown massacre, was born in 1931. In the 1950s, he founded the Peoples Temple in Indiana, which later moved to California. The Temple grew in influence and membership, but Jones became increasingly paranoid and controlling. In the 1970s, he relocated his followers to a commune in Guyana called Jonestown. > > In 1977, after allegations of abuse and financial fraud surfaced, Jones fled to Jonestown with hundreds of his followers. U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan visited Jonestown in November 1978 to investigate the claims. During his visit, several Temple members asked to return to the U.S. with him. As Ryan's party and the defectors attempted to leave, they were ambushed by Temple members, resulting in five deaths, including Ryan's. > > In response to the attack, Jones orchestrated a mass murder-suicide at Jonestown. On November 18, 1978, over 900 people, including children, died from drinking cyanide-laced punch. Jones himself was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The Jonestown massacre remains the largest loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the September 11 attacks in 2001. Jim Jones associated with several prominent politicians, including: 1. Walter Mondale - U.S. Vice President under Jimmy Carter 2. Rosalynn Carter - First Lady of the United States, wife of President Jimmy Carter 3. Jerry Brown - Governor of California 4. Willie Brown - Speaker of the California State Assembly and Mayor of San Francisco 5. Harvey Milk - San Francisco Supervisor 6. George Moscone - Mayor of San Francisco 7. Angela Davis - Communist Party USA activist and professor 8. Dennis Banks - Co-founder of the American Indian Movement 9. Huey Newton - Co-founder of the Black Panther Party 10. Jesse Jackson - Civil rights activist and politician 11. Phillip Burton - U.S. Representative from California 12. John Burton - U.S. Representative from California and California State Senator 13. Leo Ryan - U.S. Representative from California (killed during the Jonestown massacre investigation) #### Trust But Verify Claim: - Jim Jones was Rosalynn Carter's "spiritual advisor". This gave Jones connections in CA (and national) Dem politics. ![](https://x.com/SomeBitchIIKnow/status/1841970066784440512) **Letter From Reverend Jim Jones of the People’s Temple of the Disciples of Christ to First Lady Rosalynn Carter** — [Link](https://history.state.gov/historicaldocuments/frus1977-80v23/d10) > San Francisco, March 17, 1977 > > Dear Mrs. Carter: > > I regret I was out of town and missed meeting your sister-in-law, Ruth Carter Stapleton, when she was in San Francisco recently. In case you wish anyone to get in touch with me in the future, the private emergency line at Peoples Temple is (415) 922-3735. (With 9000 members in our San Francisco church, it’s often extremely difficult to get through the main numbers.) > > A short time ago I traveled to Cuba with a group of prominent doctors and businessmen from the United States. We met with Cuban officials in the medical field who say their country is badly in need of hospital equipment. The friends who I was with are prepared to make arrangements right away to get the supplies shipped to Cuba that are needed. The Cubans requested they do so, and say it would be a tremendous start in breaking down barriers between them and the U.S. > > An urgent response is needed, however, since Cuba cannot wait too long and will be compelled to look to European countries even though European medical equipment is inferior to the same type of equipment manufactured in the U.S. > > I am personally of the opinion that such a move is consistent with the humanitarian aid you spoke about not long ago, and is an opportunity to help win Cuba away from the Soviet orbit. Anything that you could do regarding this matter, of course would be deeply appreciated. > > You have my sincere best wishes for the continued success of the new Administration, and you can be assured of our vast support in the quest for a new moral tone that your husband is so valiantly attempting to bring to this country. > > Let me again express my deep appreciation for the privilege of dining privately with you prior to the election > > Very respectfully in Him, > > Rev. I enjoyed being with you during the campaign—and do hope you can meet Ruth soon. Your comments about Cuba are helpful. I hope your suggestion can be acted on in the near future.
