The theme for this year is "[Rebuilding Trust](https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2024/)." ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/59X3nFPx/BDE-Capture-11.png) They are slated to [host a panel](https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2024/sessions/preparing-for-a-disease-x/) on January 17th called "Preparing for [[Disease X]]." If you've been around for a while, you know that I have a lot to say on this subject and a lot of information already in the index, but we will wait until next week to cover the meeting. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/L6dzDQYT/BDE-Capture-11.png) I did write a [quick thread](https://twitter.com/SomeBitchIIKnow/status/1745498300256555195) today on the subject though, if you are interested: ![](https://twitter.com/SomeBitchIIKnow/status/1745498300256555195) ### You'll Own Nothing But, speaking of the [[World Economic Forum]], tonight we are going to cover some claims made in an infamous video the organization posted seven years ago and see how its claims and aspirations are panning out. The video has been deleted from Twitter, but still is live on Facebook. It was posted on November 18, 2016. Without further ado, here it is: <center><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fworldeconomicforum%2Fvideos%2F10153920524981479%2F&show_text=false&width=476&t=0" width="476" height="476" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowFullScreen="true"></iframe></center> In the video description, the post links to a [since-deleted article](https://archive.is/ce8MC) on the WEF's website. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/LsnsPRT8/BDE-Capture-11.png) It's titled, "8 predictions for the world in 2030" and is written by Ceri Parker, published on November 12, 2016. Each of the 8 predictions ties to the video that circulated around after. ### 8 Predictions for the World in 2030 > As Brexit and [[Donald Trump]]'s victory show, predicting even the immediate future is no easy feat. When it comes to what our world will look like in the medium-term – how we will organise our cities, where we will get our power from, what we will eat, what it will mean to be a refugee – it gets even trickier. But imagining the societies of tomorrow can give us a fresh perspective on the challenges and opportunities of today. > > We asked experts from our [Global Future Councils](https://web.archive.org/web/20161125145049/https://www.weforum.org/communities/global-future-councils) for their take on the world in 2030, and these are the results, from the death of shopping to the resurgence of the nation state. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/D0tHy9g0/BDE-Capture-11.png) The eight claims are: 1. All products will have become services. 2. There is a global price on carbon. 3. US dominance is over. We have a handful of global powers. 4. Farewell hospital, hello home-spital. 5. We are eating much less meat. 6. Today's Syrian refugees, 2030's CEOs. 7. The values that built the West will have been tested to breaking point. 8. "By the 2030s, we'll be ready to move humans toward the Red Planet." > [!grid|masonry] > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/pTFxRJQ2/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/3JBh8RGD/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/bwsB7N9P/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/L6sCP67P/BDE-Capture-11.png) > > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/9MV1QWZr/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/SQgVmbsx/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/Y0F16Z1J/BDE-Capture-11.png) > ![](https://i.postimg.cc/13spFW4j/BDE-Capture-11.png) #### All Products Will Have Become Services ![wmed|center](https://i.postimg.cc/pTFxRJQ2/BDE-Capture-11.png) > "I don't own anything. I don't own a car. I don't own a house. I don't own any appliances or any clothes," [writes Danish MP Ida Auken](https://archive.is/XXv2v). Shopping is a distant memory in the city of 2030, whose inhabitants have cracked clean energy and borrow what they need on demand. It sounds utopian, until she mentions that her every move is tracked and outside the city live swathes of discontents, the ultimate vision of a society split in two. ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/4NNcNY0D/BDE-Capture-11.png) ![center](https://archive.is/XXv2v/3404416db9e4e1965932c857fa5f433cc9d818db.png) ##### Ida Auken **[2016 Profile](https://archive.is/yqcRY)** ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/sxcmbbNb/BDE-Capture-11.png) Interestingly enough, Ida's page was deleted today from the Forum's website. But I pulled the Google cache and [archived it](https://archive.is/DXKMD). ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/0xYvGW6X/BDE-Capture-11.png) Where to search cache: <https://www.clickminded.com/google-cache-search/> I use [this extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/web-archives/hkligngkgcpcolhcnkgccglchdafcnao): ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/Kvmg00yS/BDE-Capture-11.png) #### There is a Global Price on Carbon > China took the lead in 2017 with a market for trading the right to emit a tonne of CO2, setting the world on a path towards a single carbon price and a powerful incentive to ditch fossil fuels, predicts Jane Burston, Head of Climate and Environment at the UK's National Physical Laboratory. Europe, meanwhile, found itself at the center of the trade in cheap, efficient solar panels, as prices for renewables fell sharply. [Essay: 5 predictions for energy in 2030](https://web.archive.org/web/20170128034130/https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/5-predictions-for-energy-in-2030) ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/GtR5sFDJ/BDE-Capture-11.png) 1. A global carbon price is established 2. Investment into renewables more than quadruples as divestment from coal becomes widespread 3. Public engagement in energy soars in areas with community energy ownership 4. Europe becomes the centre of production for next generation renewables 5. The fossil fuel lobby is (almost) a thing of the past [WEF Profile](https://web.archive.org/web/20160927230700/https://www.weforum.org/agenda/authors/jane-burston): ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/Pqv4dSxV/BDE-Capture-11.png) #### US Dominance is Over. We Have a Handful of Global Powers > Nation states will have staged a comeback, writes Robert Muggah, Research Director at the Igarapé Institute. Instead of a single force, a handful of countries – the U.S., Russia, China, Germany, India and Japan chief among them – show semi-imperial tendencies. However, at the same time, the role of the state is threatened by trends including the rise of cities and the spread of online identities. [Archive](https://web.archive.org/web/20161125144329/https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/america-s-dominance-is-over) [Robert Muggah](https://web.archive.org/web/20161126145653/https://www.weforum.org/agenda/authors/robert-muggah) ![center](https://i.postimg.cc/Y2XBGS8c/BDE-Capture-11.png) #### Farewell Hospital, Hello Home-spital > Technology will have further disrupted disease, writes Melanie Walker, a medical doctor and World Bank advisor. The hospital as we know it will be on its way out, with fewer accidents thanks to self-driving cars and great strides in preventive and personalised medicine. Scalpels and organ donors are out, tiny robotic tubes and bio-printed organs are in. #### We Are Eating much less Meat > Rather like our grandparents, we will treat meat as a treat rather than a staple, writes Tim Benton, Professor of Population Ecology at the University of Leeds, UK. It won't be big agriculture or little artisan producers that win, but rather a combination of the two, with convenience food redesigned to be healthier and less harmful to the environment. #### Today's Syrian Refugees, 2030's CEOs > Highly educated Syrian refugees will have come of age by 2030, making the case for the economic integration of those who have been forced to flee conflict. The world needs to be better prepared for populations on the move, writes Lorna Solis, Founder and CEO of the NGO Blue Rose Compass, as climate change will have displaced 1 billion people. #### The Values that Built the West Will Have Been Tested to Breaking point > We forget the checks and balances that bolster our democracies at our peril, writes Kenneth Roth, Executive Director of Human Rights Watch. #### "By The 2030s, We'll Be Ready to Move Humans toward the Red Planet." > What's more, once we get there, we'll probably discover evidence of alien life, writes Ellen Stofan, Chief Scientist at NASA. Big science will help us to answer big questions about life on earth, as well as opening up practical applications for space technology. ### WEF Global Risk Report 2024 [Link](https://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_The_Global_Risks_Report_2024.pdf) <div style="left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 60%;"><iframe src="https://docs.google.com/viewer?embedded=true&url=https://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_The_Global_Risks_Report_2024.pdf" style="top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; border: 0;" allowfullscreen></iframe></div> ### Chris Cuomo's Show is Hilarious This morning, Chris Cuomo [uploaded a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aRi78CzWL0) to his YouTube channel titled ==**What's Really Going on with the Epstein "Client List"**== and it is a piece of unintentional comedy. <iframe title="What's Really Going on with the Epstein &quot;Client List&quot;" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0aRi78CzWL0?feature=oembed" height="113" width="200" style="aspect-ratio: 1.76991 / 1; width: 100%; height: 100%;" allowfullscreen="" allow="fullscreen"></iframe> This is, of course, the same guy who claimed it was illegal to share [[Wikileaks]] documents relating to Hillary Clinton. ![](https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/953835707050745856) **[My Thread](https://twitter.com/SomeBitchIIKnow/status/1745448882207866985)**: ![](https://twitter.com/SomeBitchIIKnow/status/1745448882207866985) ### After Show - [Make List](https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2024/programme) of WEF 2024 Annual Meeting attendees. %% FOOTER %% --- ![htiny|float center small](https://i.postimg.cc/kMVCGn8R/BDE-Capture-2.png) --- ## Keep Digging %%Space%% ### Tags #Stream/BDE ### Footnotes & References
