1. Next Saturday [[07-22-2023]] we'll be revisiting (again) the dig into [[Jeff Bezos]] and his maternal grandfather [[Lawrence Gise]] in honor of the release of the movie Oppenheimer the day before.
J. [[Oppenheimer, Robert]] was the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II, and is often credited as the "father of the atomic bomb" for his role in the Manhattan Project, the research and development undertaking that created the first nuclear weapons.
Jeff Bezos' maternal grandfather was of the first employees of the Pentagon's DARPA, and has a lot of professional overlap with Oppenheimer. It's a dig that I revisit occasionally out of curiosity, and it always turns up something new and interesting.

In the meantime, if this is a subject that interests you, there's a 1980s documentary on Oppenheimer that I stumbled across linked on the site.
"Oppenheimer is a television serial about J. Robert Oppenheimer, produced by the BBC. It began broadcast in the United Kingdom on 29 October 1980 and in the United States on 11 May 1982. The series starred Sam Waterston as Oppenheimer. The series was nominated for seven BAFTA Television Awards and won three. It was nominated for two Emmy Awards, for Outstanding Limited Series and for Outstanding Writing in a Limited Series or a Special. It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV."
